Philando Castile, Racism and Us.

  • Faith UMC 2708 33rd Ave. N.E. St. Anthony Village, MN 55418

In the wake of this week's tragic deaths of Philando Castile, Alton Sterling and many police officers, UC is postponing the previously scheduled Dialogue Event to attend another conversation on Sunday Night.

The United Methodist Church Minnesota Commission on Religion and Race, at Faith UMC in St Anthony, is hosting a gathering dedicated to sharing grief, stories, and healing concerning recent police shootings.

The gathering aims to lament the killing of Castile, to share stories of how racism has affected us, and to repent of our complicity in systems of racism in the United States. We gather to remind ourselves of our history and theology – of who we are as Christians and United Methodists. And we gather to take concrete steps toward a future without racism.

The core values of MNCORR are based on the biblical imperative of right relationships with God and one another-relationships of love, grace, equity, justice, respect, and mutual accountability.
